Wada Reveals Why Final Fantasy XIII Came To Xbox 360

Wednesday, 10 Mar 2010 - 11:59AM

Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has given his explanation as to why Final Fantasy XIII made its way to Xbox 360.

Final Fantasy XIII was released yesterday in Europe and North America and has over three million units in its first twenty-four hours at retail. The title was released in Japan in December last year.

"The Xbox team has been asking us to have a [Final Fantasy] game developed on our platform,” said Wada, speaking to Siliconera. “Also, the Xbox 360 console is available in many homes in US and European markets so that was not really a hard decision to make.”

It's not the first time the series has hit the Xbox 360 though, Final Fantasy XI released for the Microsoft platform in 2006, two years after it was originally released for the PlayStation 2. Final Fantasy XIII however, is the first game in the series to release simultaneously on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
