Modern Warfare 3 breaks another record after making $1 billion in 16 days

Activision has today announced that, in the 16 days following its November 8 launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 managed to generate over $1 billion in sales.
It means the game has bettered the record set by James Cameron’s blockbuster 3D flick Avatar back in 2009, which made $1 billion in 17 days – though worth noting that cost of entry to see Avatar in theatres was a lot cheaper than a copy of Modern Warfare 3 itself.
Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, said the franchise as a whole “has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences.”
