Where Is I Am Alive?

Ubisoft first announced this title back at E3 2008, with Darkworks, the creators of Cold Fear, starting off as the developers. You play a character called Adam in a first-person perspective after a colossal earthquake strikes downtown Chicago, cutting it off from the rest of World (from what we know), after that, it’s up to you to survive with a load of clever tactics.

It was announced in style with a superb trailer (below) showing Adam being chased by three men looking for water he has in his bag in order to survive. From there on we have a brief moment which includes men scrambling, and then falling through the glass surface to their death. Nice. An amazing scene is then shown at the end with Adam standing alone in downtown Chicago, surrounded by destruction (just like in the first episode of Flash Forward, remember).

Since then we’ve heard very little about the game, other than the news of Darkworks being dropped as the developers of the game, and Ubisoft Shanghai being placed in charge. Some screenshots were also leaked back in August 2009, showing an old port of the game.

We’ve even been in contact with Ubisoft in the UK who’ve said that they have heard absolutely nothing about the game since it was transferred to Ubi Shanghai, and that they hadn’t heard any update on a release date. Yesterday however, Ubisoft didn't include it in their list of games which will be releasing in the next fiscal year.

Since seeing the trailer, it’s one of our most anticipated games, so hopefully we might see something at GDC, or it could even return to E3 two years after it first appeared. What we do know is that we can't expect it any time soon.
