Natal technology: Could have been Nintendo's

According to CVG, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata was offered the technology that is now being used in Microsoft's Project Natal, but turned it down.

A 'top insider' apparently told them that "Iwata-San only ever invests in something he can guarantee will work for a Nintendo audience,"

"3DV showed off a camera that detected motion in 3D, and had voice recognition - but Iwata-San was unconvinced he could sell it at a Nintendo price point. He also had some worries around latency during gameplay."

The source later added "Honestly - I've heard Iwata describe the prototype he saw at length, and it's definitely Natal,"

Mixed views from gamers have welcomed Natal into the public eye when it was first revealed at E3 last year, and it's due to be released at the end of the year.
