Former DICE CEO Describes Wii As 'A Virus'

Saturday, 27 Feb 2010 - 16:05PM

Former CEO and co-founder of DICE Fredrik Liliegrin has said he would not develop a new IP for the Nintendo Wii, describing the console as 'a Virus'.

The Wii has come under heavy fire from some developers in the past, yet many of those that choose the way of the Nintendo console have had major success.

Liliegrin, now leading Antic Entertainment was interviewed by Gaming Union, and was asked whether the studio would ever develop for the Wii: "If I got paid to develop a Wii game I would do it. I would not put an original IP on the Wii today unless I thought I had an absolute home run."

And when asked why, his reply was pretty critical: "Because the Wii, to me, I would describe it as a Virus, that doesn't stick. Everyone comes home, it's a toy, people have got to realize the Wii is a toy, not an entertainment focused product."

Everyone has their opinion, I suppose.
