THQ have today announced that de Blob 2: The Underground, the sequel to the 2008 Wii hit de Blob, will be making its way to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS in Spring 2011.

So a little while away for the return of the colourful franchise, though THQ have said the game will include new features such as new moves, more friends and free-form painting activities.

“We are thrilled to expand the world of de Blob into high definition and 3D gaming with an entertaining and immersive experience that brings back the adventures of the fun-loving, free-spirited hero,” said Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ.

“In addition to the release of de Blob 2: The Underground, THQ will extend the reach of its most colorful owned intellectual property with an upcoming Syfy partnership and de Blob-branded consumer products.”

When it comes to its story, de Blob 2: The Underground see's Comrade Black back with his war on color. Disguised as Papa Blanc, Comrade Black rigs the city’s election in order to win and take control of Prisma City with his brainwashing new cult. He's not the only character back though, with de Blob refusing to let go bringing his full color-spreading force and revolution to restore color and life back to the city and its residents.

You can expect to see more at E3 in a couple of days, but it's good to see the colourful splodge back, now in high definition and 3D.
