Yoshida Comments On Move Competition: Natal And Wii

SCE Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida has given his comments on the competition for PlayStation Move: the Xbox 360's Project Natal, and the Nintendo Wii.

Yoshida showed off the PlayStation 3's new motion controller last month at GDC, where we saw action of SOCOM 4 and The Fight: Lights Out, as well as a few others.

"Well, we don't know about Natal yet, so all we can say from watching in a general sense how it plays is that we've been familiar with the controller-less system since the days of the EyeToy." he said, in the May 2010 issue of EDGE Magazine. "That's very accessible, so a two-year-old to an 80-year-old lady can play games. But we also know the limitations of making games without a controller. So I'm very curious as to how Microsoft will solve that issue."

"Compared to Wii and Wii MotionPlus, the biggest advantage is precision, not only movement but 3D spatial recognition and orientation. We can incorporate very subtle movement into games." he added, later concluding: "That's not possible with the Wii system."

Both PlayStation Move and Project Natal launch this fall, whilst Wii and Wii MotionPlus are available now, obviously.
