UPDATE: Kitase has also revealed the possibility of The 3rd Birthday coming to Xbox 360, in an interview with GamingUnion.

"But if it is a success we would love to take it as a step to develop it further on HD machines like the PS3, Xbox 360 or whatever in the future. So yes, we have that expectation."

ORIGINAL: Yoshinori Kitase, executive producer of upcoming title The 3rd Birthday, has revealed the game could arrive on PlayStation 3, but only if its PSP version becomes a success.

The game is the sequel to the original PS One series Parasite Eve and will release in Japan towards the end of this year, with a western release expected in 2011. For the moment though, it's a PSP exclusive, though Kitase confirms there is the possibility of it coming to PS3.

"Obviously it depends how successful this game is," he said when speaking to DigitalSpy, "but if it is successful, we have the idea to extend the series for PS3,"
